The other day I was chatting with a friend about how life and experiences allow us to analyze things as they happen and even way beyond. I remember when I first heard Forrest Gump say “Life was like a box of chocolates, you never know what you are going to get”. That was twenty-two years ago and honestly the phrase has a totally different meaning to me right now. At the time, I thought ok, how cool that one can just choose whatever you want and if you don’t like the flavor, you just let it go. In retrospect, seems a little selfish but that’s was the thought back then. It was easy to choose “happy”. Although, I knew that was DEEP, I wasn’t mature enough to take in the phrase as I should have. Today, I totally get it in life and in business… As an entrepreneur, I find myself trying to use the “sampler menu guide” as often as possible before picking up the next chocolate but there’s still no gurantee? So when selecting that next piece of chocolate, do you find yourself like me, saying one of the following:
a. I have a good feeling about this one.
b. Did I make the right decision?
c. Should I continue sampling?
d. Should I stick to the flavor I know?
e. Should I take a risk on a new flavor?
All that to say that no matter what brilliant minds will always move forward. We get to choose HAPPY if we so desire! Although 2017 has been extremely busy, rewarding, it’s also been an eye-opener. I re-launched business last year. Shortly after that, my mother had a stroke and I am now the main caregiver. It paralyzed her and changed who she used to be and my life forever. That piece of chocolate was bitter , awful, actually. I’m grateful for ALL of it, though. I’ve grown a lot. While my life is in constant motion, I’ve had to allow myself to slow down in between weddings, corporate events, family gatherings, etc. It’s amazing what a little time to disconnect can do:
