I’m sure many of you have probably heard of the old adage “dress for success”. Have you given the phrase any thought? Although the way one looks is not everything, our style does make up a huge piece of the puzzle. Regardless of what opinions, I am convinced that style does matter and that marrying it with confidence matters even more. Let’s define style really quickly: the manner in which we express our creativity and our sense of self. The reality is that someone of something in our environment has influenced the way we dress, the way we style our hair, our home décor, they type of make-up we use, the places we travel to, etc. (the list is truly infinite). While our sense of style is individual it is defined by a compilation preferences that tell our story. If you haven’t done so and are a late bloomer style wise, take the time in 2017 to define your style. I’m not talking about following trends or obsessing over what’s in… Empower yourself by mastering the art of wearing your personality. Make it visible. If you are interviewing for a job, attending a client meeting or at a social gathering remember that the first impressions is the last impression. Don’t wait for a special occasion. Start with every day looks that become your staple.
Many moons ago I figured out on could be a walking advertisement naturally and in an unforced manner. All entrepreneurs can benefit from a style that defines their brand. Whether I’m decide on a preppy look or sophisticated swag it’s all part of my style. Accessories are a huge part of who I am. Bold jewelry is a must, diamonds over pearls, and I’m obsessed with funky bracelets and scarves. You’ll see me rocking an arm party even when it might not fit my wardrobe because it’ just my own little twist. The color white, neutrals, and pinks have eternal leases in my closet. Although I swoon over old Hollywood fashion, I definitely have an appreciation for modern designs.
I’m grateful that I am in an industry that allows us to interpret confidence as we see fit. Take this year to do the same and rock your style with conviction.
Yves Saint Laurent said it best, “Fashions fade, style is eternal”.
