As a fan of fashion, I love to follow trends and to create them, but as a planner, there is nothing more beautiful than helping couples create timeless weddings. This starts with helping them choose elements that will stand the test of time and delight them as they look back on their photos ten, twenty and thirty years down the line. My main task is to educate my client’s by arming them with the information that will help them make the appropriate decisions. We can’t control taste, but ideally, I’d be able to provide my clients with a list of the appropriate creatives that will in turn help me bring their vision to life. I’m not there to change their vision, they simply hire me to execute flawlessly.
Today, I am sharing seven ways to create an event that will still look fresh and modern when you celebrate your golden anniversary.
Pick the dress that is right for you not by trend
Every bride should wear the dress she loves, but the question is will you love that laser cut or large pink bow later or will it look so dated your wedding pictures become a bit of an inside joke? When purchasing your dream dress, choose a flattering silhouette you feel comfortable in with timeless elements such as light beading, french lace, or an amazing texture but steer clear of extreme trends which come in and go out of fashion in record time.
Choose an elegant bridal hair look
When you look back at your high school photos, what is the first thing you notice? For most of us, it is the “fashionable” hair and makeup choices that are now questionable. A beautiful, uncomplicated updo, lovely side-sweep or clean-short style paired with a soft palette will offer a Grace Kelly elegance that is sure to serve as inspiration, not an embarrassment in the years to come.
